Nothing Merry about Christmas

Hello, everybody!

I mean no offence but before you wish me a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, I would like to have you know that there is nothing really MERRY about CHRISTMAS, but there ARE a lot of things VERY about CHRISTMAS. CHRISTMAS is…

VERY INACCURATE

There is no shadow of a doubt that the 25th of December is NOT the day Jesus was born. The Bible is not a book that is deficient in recording the dates of important historical events. On the contrary, it records many like the Hebrew Exodus from Egypt, the Construction of Solomon’s Temple etc. The coming of Jesus is the MOST important of all historical events, yet no such record? Why not? God does not want a birthday celebration like the one called CHRISTMAS today. It is so much like why God did not show a form or image on Mount Sinai – to avoid idol worship – “…for ye saw no manner of similitude on the day that the LORD spake… lest ye… make you a graven image…” Deuteronomy 4:15-19

VERY HERETICAL

It is a heresy or false teaching in God’s sight when we add to our creed something that has no support from God’s Word. “Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you…” Exodus 4:2; “…Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?” Matthew 15:3

VERY BLASPHEMOUS

We blaspheme God when we celebrate Christmas because we insult and shame Him in that we bring the Creator, who alone has no beginning or birthday, down to the level of the Creation, of which all have a beginning or birthday. Jesus says, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending…” Revelation 1:8

VERY PAGAN

Christmas has pagan roots when you delve into its origin. The Christmas tree comes from ancient pagan practice of worshipping trees. The 25th of December of course is the birthday of the pagan sun god. It includes many such things which you will discover when you do your homework on this. Most importantly, Santa Claus who comes from Saint Nicolas – worshipping saints and praying to them is totally against the tenor of Scripture and is endorsed by the Roman Catholic Church. “Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen…” Jeremiah 10:2

VERY INTOXICATING

It is on Christmas that there is maximum consumption of alcohol. People celebrate by getting drunk! “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit.” Ephesians 5:18

VERY GREEDY

Christmas is no doubt a jolly good time for those who are in the business of selling ‘Christmas Items.’ It sure promises a lot of money. You cannot serve both God and Money (Matthew 6:24). It would be the same problem for these merchants if people stopped celebrating Christmas as it was for the silversmith Demetrius when people stopped buying his silver idols because Paul preached that “they be no gods, which are made with hands” (Acts 19:24-27). “…there shall be false teachers… through covetousness shall they with feigned words MAKE MERCHANDISE OF YOU…” II Peter 2:1-3 You choose… God or Gold? Maker or Money? Creator or Cash?

VERY HARMFUL

Christmas is also a season of drunken brawls, feuds, accidents and consequent deaths. It is harmful to both soul and body. “…the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.” Romans 14:17

VERY DECEITFUL

These truths are, of course, not disclosed to the multitudes of professing Christians around the world so that they may remain in this sway of Satan’s deceit. Hiding truth and exhibiting lies is what our leaders are doing today. But our Lord has said, “…ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32

VERY DANGEROUS

Like it or not… accept it or reject it… but here is the ultimate truth you have to face: you and I will one day stand before God to give an account of our intentions, motives, words and actions. God is a just and impartial judge. No perjury or bribery will avail anything there. And the punishment is your permanent residence in tormenting fire with wailing and gnashing of teeth for eternity. You better fear Him now if you do not want to live as a fool. “The Fool hath said in his heart, There is no God…” Psalm 14:1; “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom…” Proverbs 9:10; “For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.” Ecclesiastes 12:14; “…rather fear Him which is ableto destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:28 “…it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” Hebrews 9:27

You still want to celebrate it? You still want to wish everybody a Merry Christmas on the 25th of December? Go ahead but be aware of the implications and consequences in doing so. As for me, I would rather not dare respond to such a greeting with a “Thank you” or a “Same to you.” May God lead you to the Truth and help you walk in it. Amen.

P.S.: Why do I write all this? The majority of Christians are Roman Catholics who all celebrate Christmas. And even most of the Protestant denominations today celebrate it. Even non-Christians celebrate it with their Christian friends. Why do they? Tradition – we have always done it. Custom – everybody does it. Why should we not?, they may ask. Are they not free to do whatever they please? Yes, but let everyone know the truth behind it… the truth that most want to hide behind the glitter and glamour of the festival. I believe every human being on this planet has a right to know the truth and also to make a voluntary decision according to that truth – to this at least I believe most will be willing to agree with me, though they may disagree with my view on Christmas. Brothers and sisters, let us forsake the ways of the world and let us walk on that old, narrow but royal highway of Christ toward the heavenly Zion.
